Join one of our Committees!NYLA has a variety of committees that meet regularly in person or by phone that are focused on specific issues that either impact the library community or carry out the mission of the association. The committees utilize your expertise and enthusiasm for a particular issue or task to help shape the future of librarianship and the association.
Add a unit to your membership and get involved in a specific interest!NYLA has seven sections and twelve roundtables that represent the diversity of the library community based on type of library, career track and special interests. Each of our sections and roundtables has officers, committees and other opportunities for getting involved.
Make a DonationNYLA established several funds that would allow donors to contribute to specific initiatives and programs that support the mission of the association and impact the library community. Listed below are a description of the funds and a link to how you can donate. NYLA FundThis new general NYLA fund will replace the Advocacy, Scholarship and Fund for the Future donations that previously existed. Now funds in this donation category will be used to help underwrite the costs of NYLA's advocacy efforts, help provide NYLA with long-term financial stability and help provide scholarships to students. Intellectual Freedom FundThe purpose of this fund is to advance the cause of intellectual freedom and help NYLA members in their efforts to defend the rights of intellectual freedom. Disaster Relief FundThe purpose of this fund is to provide funding to libraries in New York damaged or destroyed by natural or manmade disasters like flooding, hurricanes, fire, etc. Legal Defense FundThe purpose of this fund is to provide assistance to libraries on legal matters that have statewide implications for the library community.
